After ten months my art block is finally gone! And y'know, I had a revelation of sorts.

I've been trying too hard to be like someone else.

I've been reading thousands of tutorials and sighing over other artists' work and thinking "Man, if only I could do that." Everything I've drawn lately has been a poor imitation of someone else's work. But yesterday I was looking at some of my old stuff that I haven't posted here yet, and I realised that I had something good going there. It wasn't photorealistic, it wasn't professional, it wasn't perfect, but it was mine. Somehow I could slap some colour on and it'd work. It was my own style, my own work, and always without stress. I never wanted to scream in frustration and leave things half finished. I never spent hours staring and just thinking "What the hell do I do now?" I had fun. I think that's something I had forgotten in my need to excel. Drawing is my hobby, and hobbies should make me happy. Hobbies should be fun.

So yeah, that's how it is now. Not so much new style as returning to the pits from whence I came. I'll probably be complaining of art block again soon enough, but as long as this new attitude is here, I plan to make the most of it

Ugh. Ran into a bit of art-block, which is annoying because I really, /really/ want to draw/paint something. Don'tcha hate it when that happens? Also want to do another name thingie, but can't find anyone interested enough to part with their money for one DX.

Trying to get out of drawing in a manga-y style, but it's difficult when it's all you've been drawing since time immemorial. Getting there, though I might have to settle for 'manga-but-not-really-cause-I-said-so'. Ah well.

Ooh, might have a short comic up soon. Scripts have been written and thumbnails have been drawn, so here's hoping.
